A Pittsburgh-area registered nurse is bringing the faces of the front lines to the community, in hopes that their support will help the region’s nurses push through the daily work related to the coronavirus pandemic.
Dena Strano of Plum has been collecting photographs of nurses wearing items from the online apparel store she created a few years ago — Nurse N’at. The store was born out of her efforts to bring the region’s nurses together, regardless of where they work or what type of care they provide, and allow them to show pride for their careers.
Now, the nurses have been feeding off the community support while they face tough challenges and uncertainty at work caring for patients who have been diagnosed with the coronavirus. Strano, who works at a North Hills hospital, said that support is uplifting.
“It energizes people that what we are doing is mattering and making a difference,” she said. “We live here and we’re taking care of the city that we love.”
