A New Florence man faces aggravated assault charges after police say he shot a 24-year-old woman multiple times with a BB gun.

State police charged Allen K. Palmer, 31, with aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment.

During an altercation at a Climax Road residence in West Wheatfield on Tuesday , Palmer allegedly fired several rounds from a BB gun at the woman’s head, hand and body, according to a criminal complaint. Troop A spokesman Trooper Cliff Greenfield said officers observed red marks and slight bleeding, and the woman was taken to a local hospital.

Palmer was lodged in the Indiana County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bond. He faces a preliminary hearing Wednesday before Blairsville District Judge Jennifer J. Rega.
