A new Mission BBQ is coming to Monroeville in July 2023.

Here are some of the latest news items from this morning, Wednesday, July 12:

Severe weather risk forecast Thursday

The likelihood of severe weather will increase around the Western Pennsylvania area from Wednesday into Thursday, according to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh.

Forecasters say there is a marginal risk for damaging winds and flooding mainly north of the city on Wednesday. There is a marginal to slight risk for severe weather for much of the region Thursday.

Isolated strong to severe thunderstorms are expected Wednesday afternoon and evening in parts of eastern Ohio into northwest Pennsylvania. Heavy rainfall and localized flooding are possible with stronger storms. Isolated storms could produce damaging winds.

On Thursday, the potential for severe weather and flooding in the Pittsburgh area could come between 4 and 8 p.m., meteorologist David Shallenberger said.

Damaging winds and large hail are possible, and isolated tornadoes can’t be ruled out, he said.

Flooding may be caused by the “training” effect, in which multiple storms pass over the same areas, Shallenberger said.

Residents are advised to monitor the latest forecasts and be sure they can receive warnings. As always, drivers are advised to not drive into flood roadways.

Advisory issued for Star Lake concerts

The next four days feature four concerts at The Pavilion at Star Lake.

Post Malone with Beach Fossils take the stage Wednesday; Shania Twain with Breland is sold out for Thursday; Matchbox Twenty with Matt Nathanson will perform Friday; and Bret Michaels with Night Ranger, Jefferson Starship, Mark McGrath and Steve Augeri are scheduled for Saturday.

Because of large crowds and heavy traffic, fans are advised to arrive early.

For Wednesday’s Post Malone concert, early parking starts at 2:30 p.m., followed by standard parking at 4:30 p.m. Gates open at 6 p.m., and the show starts at 8 p.m.

Concertgoers are reminded to follow the facility’s bag policy to reduce staff contact with guest belongings. Clear plastic, vinyl or PVG bags up to 12-by-6-by-12 inches are allowed; small clutch bags do not need to be clear but are limited to 6-by-9 inches in size.

The venue uses a cashless system, with all points of sale accepting only credit or debit cards. Cash-to-card conversion will be available at guest services in the west plaza.

Phones are tickets, and concertgoers are advised to add tickets to the wallet in the Live Nation app before reaching the gate. Screenshots and printouts will not be accepted.

For Matchbox Twenty on Friday, previously delivered hard copy tickets will be honored at the gates.
