Goat Fest PGH returning to South Side

What’s more “greatest of all time” than taking care of the environment?

At Goat Fest PGH on Saturday, working goats from Allegheny GoatScape will lend a helping hoof by eating invasive vines at South Side Park.

The festival raises awareness about ecological restoration in South Side Park and garners fundraising for the project. It’s organized by Friends of South Side Park and is free, with a suggested donation of $25 per household.

The event will run from noon to 4 p.m., and parking is available at 21st and Josephine streets, with a free shuttle to the event entrance at 2000 Julia St. The majority of the event takes place at the Arlington Ball Field behind the Arlington Fire Station. A petting zoo, live music, artisan market and kids’ activities will be available.

No injuries reported in Glassport fire

There were no injuries reported after a fire broke out Friday morning at a Glassport home, according to Tribune-Review news partner WTAE-TV.

Fire crews were called to the 500 block of Ohio Avenue around 5:10 a.m.

Everyone who lived in the house was able to escape safely, along with two dogs, according to someone who lives in the home.

The cause of the fire was not immediately available.
