Fayette man shot in moving vehicle during fight with wife
A man was shot twice in the thigh in a moving vehicle Monday morning in a domestic dispute with his pregnant wife in Fayette County, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
The shooting occurred before 8:45 a.m. near 2434 Pittsburgh Road in Franklin Township, Fayette County, officials said.
According to the police report, Nathan and Kristen Swink of Fayette City were driving on Pittsburgh Road when Kristen retrieved a gun and the two struggled over the weapon. Nathan was shot twice — once in each thigh, police said.
Police told TribLive news partner WTAE that Nathan Swink said the shooting was accidental.
According to WTAE, police said the couple had dropped off their two children at school and were on their way to a meeting when they began fighting. Their car was damaged when it backed into a tree before the shooting.
WTAE said least two bullet holes were visible on the vehicle.
Fayette EMS took Nathan to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in critical condition because of blood loss, and police later said he was stable and expected to enter surgery.
The State Police Belle Vernon Criminal Investigation Unit and the Fayette County District Attorney’s Office are investigating.
