Motorcyclist from Bethel Park dies in Washington County crash
A Bethel Park man died Thursday afternoon after a crash on Interstate 70 in in South Strabane, Washington County, according to state police.
State police said Fred W. Blake Jr., 71, died shortly after arriving at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh following the crash around 3 p.m.
According to state police, Blake was merging onto eastbound Interstate 70 from Interstate 79 on a Harley Davidson Sportster. He merged into the middle lane and continued into the left lane where his motorcycle hit the rear passenger side of an SUV.
State police said Blake was separated from his motorcycle and slid a significant distance. He was not wearing a helmet and suffered a serious head injury.
The driver and two passengers in the SUV, all from Columbus, Ohio, were not hurt, state police said.
Man stabbed in Stowe
A 46-year-old man was stabbed in Stowe Thursday night, Allegheny County Police said.
Police said the stabbing in the 600 block of Pleasant Ridge Road was reported to 911 around 11 p.m. First responders found the man had been stabbed in the hand and face.
The man was taken to a hospital, where police said he was in stable condition.
Detectives were working to identify a suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call the county police tip line at 833-255-8477. Callers can remain anonymous.
Death of man found in drainage tunnel ruled accidental
The death of a man found inside a drainage tunnel in Moon in April has been ruled an accident.
Panayioti R. Rauseo, 35, of Moon died from blunt force injuries to his head, trunk and extremities, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner said Thursday.
Police were searching for Rauseo on April 19 after responding to a domestic disturbance that afternoon in the 100 block of Fern Hollow Road. His vehicle was later found empty on Randy Lane.
He was found dead inside a drainage tunnel around 9 p.m. in the area between Stoops Ferry Road and the Sewickley Bridge.
Police said it appeared Rauseo fled into a wooded area, fell from a small cliff and then got into the tunnel.
Butler County cemetery vandalized
State police in Butler are investigating a case of vandalism at a cemetery in Jefferson Township.
According to a release issued Friday, state police said 28 vigil candle holders on gravestones at Nativity of the Theotokos Orthodox Ministry on St. Elias Lane were damaged between June 2 and 4.
