4 homes destroyed in Cecil fire
A townhouse in the Lawrence section of Cecil Township, Washington County, erupted in flames just before 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.
The fire started in the garage and spread to homes on either side, Cecil Township Fire Chief Noel McMullen said in a statement.
Four townhouses along Old Farm Road in the Georgetown Estates development were completely destroyed, two others were damaged. There were no reported injuries.
Firefighters worked for multiple hours to extinguish the flames. According to the Cecil Township Fire Department Facebook page, companies from North Strabane, Peters, Canonsburg, Fairview and Upper St. Clair were also on the scene.
The cause of this fire is still under investigation by the State Police Fire Marshal.
Community members have started a GoFundMe to help the families impacted by the fire.
Man shot in Wilkinsburg
A man was shot in the chest late Tuesday in Wilkinsburg, according to a report from Pittsburgh Public Safety.
Just before 11 p.m. Tuesday, Pittsburgh officers responded to the 2400 block of Bracey Drive for a seven-round ShotSpotter alert.
At the scene, they said they found a man in his early 20s on Coal Street with a gunshot wound to the chest and a graze wound to the back of his head.
He was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
The Violent Crimes Unit is investigating.
Pittsburgh police cruiser damaged in chase
A Pittsburgh police cruiser was struck by a stolen vehicle that was being pursued Thursday morning by Brentwood police, according to a report from Pittsburgh Public Safety.
The incident happened a little after 3 a.m. on the 1200 block of Arlington Avenue.
Brentwood police arrested the suspect. There is no report of any charges filed.
