City to help fund annual Juneteenth celebration

Pittsburgh Mayor Ed Gainey announced Thursday that with the help of federal American Rescue Plan funding allocated for the arts, the city will support the annual Juneteenth celebration to the tune of $125,000 per year in 2023 and 2024.

Pittsburgh officials declared Juneteenth a city holiday in 2021, shortly before federal officials did the same.
