Trulieve, a medical marijuana company with locations throughout Pennsylvania, is laying off an unspecified number of people at its growing facility in McKeesport.

The company said in a statement the cuts are the “result of greater efficiencies throughout our supply chain and retail operations in the state.”

“Where possible, we moved impacted employees to other positions,” the Trulieve statement said. “Where transfers were not feasible or accepted, employees were offered severance packages.”

The company would not say how many employees would be affected.

In addition to its McKeesport facility, Trulieve has dispensaries across the state, including in Pittsburgh’s Squirrel Hill and North Shore sections, Cranberry Township, Zelienople and Washington. Pennsylvania is the company’s third largest market.

The decision comes just days after rapper Wiz Khalifa launched his medical marijuana products at Trulieve locations statewide.

Khalifa is a graduate of Allderdice High School in Squirrel Hill.

Khalifa Kush is already temporarily sold out, according to a note on the dispensary’s website.

The Florida-based cannabis company employs over 8,000 people across the country. It is traded on the Canadian Securities Exchange.
