A Venango County man is being charged in the death of a woman whose body was found along a bike trail recently, according to reports from WTAE and YourErie.com.

David Bosley, 59, of Oil City was arrested Thursday and charged with homicide, rape by forcible compulsion, aggravated indecent assault, kidnapping, and abuse of a corpse.

The arrest comes after the body of Marcy Suzette Nellis, 70, was discovered on March 27 along the Oil City bike trail, across the road from Clarion University’s Venango campus and about a mile away from Bosley’s home.

The initial search for Nellis involved more than 100 trained personnel, a search and rescue team, a helicopter, drones with night vision, search dogs, and boats.

An autopsy determined that Nellis died of strangulation and had been sexually assaulted. The results of a rape kit linked Bosley to the crime, officials said.

Venango County District Attorney D. Shawn White told WTAE that Bosley was considered a person of interest in the case right away, although he didn’t elaborate as to why. Bosley is listed on the Megan’s Law website as a sexually violent predator and has convictions dating back to 1990.
