Beginning Monday, every household in the country can again order free at-home covid-19 tests.

People can order four free rapid tests at covid.gov/tests or by calling 1-800-232-0233.

The U.S. Postal Service will begin shipping the covid-19 tests to people’s homes the week of Oct. 2, according to its website.

Families are limited to one order per residential address. Each order contains four individual covid-19 tests shipped in one package.

People are eligible for another round of covid-19 tests even if they placed an order on May 31 or earlier during prior rounds of the program. The White House launched the program to allow Americans to request free at-home covid-19 tests in January 2022.

The rapid at-home tests will show results within 30 minutes. Officials recommend that people take a covid-19 test if they begin to feel symptoms such as fever, sore throat, runny nose or loss of taste or smell. People also should take a test at least five days after coming into close contact with someone with covid-19 or when gathering with groups of people, particularly those who are most at risk of severe infection, according to officials.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has extended the expiration dates on some covid-19 tests. People can check updated expiration guidelines through the FDA’s website.
