The Goodwill Industries Workforce Development Center in Pittsburgh’s Lawrenceville neighborhood is offering career assessments and helping job seekers with a better presence online.
The free service is part of a partnership announced last month between Goodwill and the Indeed.com job website, both of which committed to help find jobs for 1 million people.
“Indeed and Goodwill will identify solutions that will help job seekers who are overlooked or face barriers find work,” according to a news release issued by Indeed last month.
Brady Riedel, career services coordinator for Goodwill’s Southwestern Pennsylvania region, said that Indeed conducted a special training of local staff on how to use the new partnership.
“Indeed is helping Goodwill learn to work with candidates on their online resumes to make them ‘pop’ and stand out,” Riedel said.
Goodwill works with residents who are unemployed or underemployed in the service, professional and trade occupations.
“What we can do is create a better online presence for job candidates,” he said.
The free services are available to anyone in Southwestern Pennsylvania and are offered at Goodwill’s Workforce Development Center in Lawrenceville.
Specifically, Goodwill can help candidates create an online resume, an Indeed profile and learn to how use the more advanced features of the Indeed job search website.
The free service is offered several times during the weekday mornings and afternoons.
