Valerie Jarrett, former senior advisor to former President Barack Obama, will participate in an Adagio Health symposium dedicated to women’s health later this month in Pittsburgh.
Jarrett will be involved in a discussion regarding the importance of better health care and policies for women across the country at the second annual Transforming Women’s Health Symposium at the Omni William Penn Hotel on Tuesday, Sept. 24.
Also featured will be Dr. Patrice Harris, the first African American woman to serve as president of the American Medical Association, and Dr. Barbara Ross-Lee, the first African American woman to be appointed dean of a U.S. medical school. Dr. Loren Robinson, Pennsylvania’s deputy secretary for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, will serve as honorary chairwoman.
“Culturally and politically, we are in the midst of an important national conversation about women and health care,” Adagio Health President and CEO BJ Leber said in prepared remarks. “We are thrilled to be able to host these incredibly accomplished women at our symposium this fall, and to present a unique forum where they can share their insights and perspectives on health care in America.”
The symposium also will cover topics such as the opioid epidemic, the maternal health crisis in the U.S., sexual harassment in the era of #MeToo, health equity for women and other marginalized populations and sex education in schools.
