The Ellwood City Police Department recently purchased a new 2021 Dodge Charger, which will be the new K9 vehicle for the department.

The vehicle was purchased with donations made by Reed Services, donors and past fundraisers.

Reed Services, Sgt. Michael McBride and K9 Officer Richard Kruger will be going to Shallow Creek Kennel in Sharpsville on Feb. 7 to meet with the representatives to choose the new K9 for the department.

Once the new K9 has been chosen, Kruger will be attending a six-week training, with his new K9, at Shallow Creek Kennels in March.

Upon completion of training, Kruger and his new partner will be on patrol together throughout the borough.
