A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in Washington, Pa. Tuesday night, according to the Washington County Coroner’s office.
The name of the pedestrian, who was later pronounced deceased, was being withheld pending notification of family.
It was not clear if the person was killed by the impact, or if he or she was already deceased. The cause and manner of death were pending investigation and an autopsy.
The incident happened shortly before 11 p.m. on North Main Street.
According to the coroner, a person driving north on North Main hit what they thought was debris or refuse on the road near Brady Avenue.
After noticing a vibration, the driver stopped in a parking lot on Wilson Avenue, got out, realized it had been a person, and called 911.
The driver, who was not identified, remained at the scene, the coroner said.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at 11:15 p.m.
Washington City police were investigating.
