Now that the covid-19 crisis has forced Pennsylvania schools to turn to online instruction for the remainder of the academic year, Carnegie Science Center is offering to help educators.

The resources being offered include educational activities, videos and lesson plans on Carnegie Science Center’s new Online Educator Resources page.

The material covers a range of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) content for students in grades K-12.

It includes lesson plans with easy-to-do science experiments for early learners using common household items, videos with the animal ambassadors in Carnegie Science Center’s H2Oh! Field Station, and a STEM for Social Good toolkit with activities for middle and high school students interested in sparking social change with STEM.

“We recognize that teachers need additional resources to support their curriculum and they need fun ways to maintain relationships and engage students in on-line learning,” said Science Center spokesperson Connie George. “The resources we have compiled help with all of these things.

“Teachers can guide hands-on learning, as well as offer students short, fun, videos of cool science experiments, and support the subject with suggested reading materials.”

New resources will be added weekly as Science Center educators develop new science activities and video demonstrations for online instructions.
