President Joe Biden speaks about his infrastructure agenda at the Fern Hollow Bridge in Pittsburgh on Oct. 20, 2022, his last visit to the region.

President Joe Biden is returning to Southwestern Pennsylvania next week, his first visit to the Pittsburgh region since 2022.

Biden will visit Wednesday, according to the White House.

No specific location or agenda was announced, but the White House said more details will follow.

His Pittsburgh-area visit is part of a three-day swing through Pennsylvania that includes stops in Philadelphia and Scranton, where Biden was born and raised.

Biden last visited Pittsburgh in October 2022, when he surveyed construction progress on the new Fern Hollow Bridge and touted the importance of the $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill that helped pay of the bridge’s replacement after it collapsed on Jan. 28, 2022.

The president has suffered from low approval ratings in Pennsylvania for much of his presidency, but he has been gaining ground on his rival, former President Donald Trump, in recent polls.

In a hypothetical race between Biden, Trump, and third-party candidates, Biden is leading among Pennsylvania voters with 42% compared to Trump’s 40%, according to a Franklin & Marshall College poll taken at the end of march. The poll’s margin of error was plus-minus 4%.
