AAA clinics feature Yellow Dot emergency program for motorists

AAA East Central is hosting a series of area clinics to help motorists enroll in a program that provides potentially life-saving information to first responders arriving at a vehicle wreck.

The Yellow Dot program provides vital information about motorists who may not be in a condition to communicate with emergency crews following a crash.

A yellow dot decal placed in the vehicle’s rear window alerts responders to look in the glove compartment for information, including the motorist’s identification, emergency and doctor contact information, medical history, medications taken and any allergies. The information is paired with a head-and-shoulders photo of the motorist.

Participants at the free clinics will be guided in filling out documents and taking photos for the program.

Clinics are scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the following AAA offices:

• Friday: Eastgate Plaza, 5142 Route 30, Suite 135, Hempfield;

• Aug. 11: 4790 McKnight Road, Ross Township, Allegheny County;

• Sept. 14: 209 Walmart Drive, South Union Township, Fayette County;

• Oct. 10: 196 Murtland Ave., South Strabane, Washington County.

Participants are encouraged to make appointments by calling 412-365-7212. The nonprofit Highway Safety Network and the Allegheny County Health Department are assisting with the clinics.
