Three people were seriously hurt in a two-vehicle crash on Route 68 in Butler County Monday night, according to state police.

The crash happened shortly after 9 p.m. in Forward Township.

According to state police, Chase D. Cooper, 27, no address given, was driving a pickup north on Route 68 when he crossed the center line and hit another pickup head-on.

The other pickup was driven by Timothy D. Harris, 56, of Wexford. There was one passenger in his vehicle, Janet L. Harris, 58.

Cooper was taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. Timothy and Janet Harris were both taken to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. All three had potentially serious injuries, state police said.

Following the crash, the road was closed until shortly after 2 a.m. Tuesday, a Butler County emergency dispatcher said.

The crash remained under investigation.
