Police are searching for a McKeesport man who they said attacked and shot a woman outside a Duquesne bar over the weekend, according to the charges against him.
Deandre Hawkins, 28, is charged with multiple counts of aggravated assault in connection with the attack on the 34-year-old woman early Saturday.
The woman told police that she went to Reese’s Supper Club around 2 a.m. and had no problems while she was there, according to a complaint filed in the case. As she was leaving about two hours later, a man she identified as Hawkins shoved her as she was walking out the door, the complaint said.
Hawkins swore at the woman, grabbed her in a headlock and choked her until she was able to pull away and defend herself with a solar landscaping light, the complaint said.
As the woman walked to her car, she told investigators that she heard four gunshots coming from behind her and Hawkins was about 5 feet behind her holding a gun, according to the complaint.
The woman was grazed twice on her left arm and taken to UPMC McKeesport in a private vehicle before being transferred to UPMC Presbyterian. She was treated there for the graze wounds and multiple lacerations suffered in the struggle, the complaint said.
In addition to aggravated assault, Hawkins is charged with strangulation, simple assault and reckless endangerment.
Allegheny County Police said Hawkins should be considered potentially armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police tip line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS (1-833-255-8477).
