Police: 4-year-old dies in accidental shooting in Pittsburgh
A 4-year-old boy died Monday in Pittsburgh from a gunshot wound that police say was likely self-inflicted.
“Everything points to that,” said Public Safety spokeswoman Cara Cruz.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the child as Ajene Lane.
The incident happened around 8:15 a.m. at a home on North Negley Avenue near Black Street in the city’s East Liberty neighborhood, according to police.
Just before 8:15 a.m., Pittsburgh Police and EMS responded to the 500 block of N. Negley Ave. for reports of a 4-year-old boy with a gunshot wound.
The child was transported to the hospital, but later pronounced deceased.

Police arrived and found the toddler with a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh just a few miles away where he was pronounced dead about 8:45 a.m., authorities said.
Cruz said the child’s grandmother was in the home with him at the time.
No charges had been filed as of mid-afternoon Monday.
