Two pedestrians are in stable condition after being struck by a truck Tuesday evening Downtown, and the vehicle’s driver is in critical condition, police said.

Pittsburgh Police, along with fire and EMS, were dispatched to Sixth Avenue at Centre Avenue around 7:15 p.m. for a report of two people, an adult man and woman, hit by a vehicle. They were transported from the scene in stable condition, according to police.

Police said they believe the 42-year-old man driving the pick-up truck suffered a medical emergency just before the incident. He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

The man was headed northbound when he struck the pedestrians, who were crossing the street at a crosswalk, according to public safety officials.

The pick-up truck also struck the BNY Mellon parking garage. Damage to the building is being assessed, police said.
