Plum Republican meeting

The Plum Borough Republican Committee will meet at Palmieri’s Restaurant on 951 Old Frankstown Road in Plum at 7 p.m. Sept. 28.

The featured guest speaker will be Jason Richey, candidate for governor of Pennsylvania.

This meeting is open to all registered Republicans and provides a forum to meet with candidates, discuss issues, exchange ideas and enjoy fellowship.

Student news

• Destiny Loughner, Jetta Southard and Sean Smith have been named to the Southern New Hampshire University dean’s list for the summer 2021 semester. Full-time students who have earned a minimum GPA of 3.500 to 3.699 are named to the dean’s list. Full-time status is achieved by earning 12 credits.

• Alexander Stramaski, Myah Zana, Dawn Pepper, Trinity Coffman, Neriah Sieminski and Jody Evans have been named to the Southern New Hampshire University president’s list for the summer 2021 semester. Full-time students who have earned a minimum GPA of 3.700 or above are named to the president’s list. Full-time status is achieved by earning 12 credits.

Touch-a-Truck canceled

Oakmont Lions Club’s Touch-a-Truck event that was planned for Oct. 3 has been canceled because of the pandemic.

Organizers said the need for extensive cleaning after each child would climb in and out of participating trucks, as well as potential crowd size, swayed them to cancel the event.

They said they hope to host the event in the spring.

Plum’s Monday Market

The Monday Market is held Mondays through Oct. 25 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Plum Creek Park (Plum baseball fields), 1040 Ross Hollow Road.

Women’s Business Network

Women’s Business Network is an award-winning business association that supports the success and growth of women in business. WBN provides members with the tools to be successful.

Oakmont library programs

Oakmont Carnegie Library offers a variety of free online programs. Director Beth Mellor hosts Tuesday Morning YouTube Storytime on Tuesdays from 10 to 11 a.m.
