A Pittsburgh woman died after a two-vehicle crash in Homewood South early Monday, according to city police and the Allegheny County Medical Examiner.

Ciara Leche Legrand, 25, was a passenger in one of the vehicles that collided at the intersection of Brushton and Hamilton avenues just before 1:30 a.m., police said. Legrand was ejected from the vehicle and transported in critical condition by paramedics to UPMC Presbyterian.

She was pronounced dead around 3:45 a.m. at the hospital, according to the medical examiner.

In 2020, there were 1,129 people killed in vehicle crashes statewide, a slight increase from 1,059 people the previous year, according to PennDOT statistics.
