A 6-year-old girl was in critical condition after being shot in the abdomen Thursday evening in Pittsburgh’s Homewood neighborhood.

Police learned of the wounded girl, who was a passenger in an SUV in the 7100 block of Frankstown Avenue, after officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert about 6:20 p.m. in the 1000 block of Lawndale Street, according to Pittsburgh Public Safety spokesman Maurice Matthews.

Officers rendered aid to the girl until medics arrived and she was taken to a nearby hospital.

Update: A juvenile female was transported to the hospital. The information can be found on the Public Safety blotter HERE. https://t.co/wIwqV3gQ1c https://t.co/g2g7caQZQH
