Pittsburgh closing sidewalk on Meadow Street Bridge for repairs
Pittsburgh’s Department of Mobility and Infrastructure announced Thursday they will be closing a portion of the sidewalk on Meadow Street Bridge for repairs.
The bridge, located in the city’s East Liberty and Larimer neighborhoods, spans Negley Run Boulevard.
Officials are closing the northeast sidewalk to accommodate necessary repairs, a decision based on the recommendations of a routine bridge inspection earlier this month. The bridge’s roadway and the opposite sidewalk will remain open.
The northeast sidewalk will remain closed while the city identifies and engages with a contractor to repair the span. Officials did not immediately say what types of repairs were needed.
“There is not an immediate structural concern for the bridge, but we’re acting out of an abundance of caution,” Acting Director of the Department of Mobility and Infrastructure Kimberly Lucas said.
City officials asked pedestrians traveling on the northeast side of Meadow Street to cross at either the Saint Marie Street or Lenora Street intersections during the closure.
The sidewalk will be closed beginning Friday.
