The Diocese of Pittsburgh administrative office on Feb. 27, 2019.

A youth minister at St. Bonaventure Parish in Shaler has tested positive for covid-19, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh reported Friday.

The person tested positive for the coronavirus disease on Thursday, but has not been around any parish youth members or involved in any parish gatherings since March 15 — when the diocese put all such activities on hold.

The youth minister did, however, stop by the parish office in recent days to “get some work for home,” the diocese said.

Because of the possible contact made the St. Bonaventure parish office will be closed for cleaning until Monday.

The youth minister is quarantining from home and will continue to abide by local and federal public health guidelines.

“We continue to pray for an end to the virus, and for all of those directly impacted,” Bishop David Zubik said in a statement.

Churches remained closed and are not holding Mass or performing funerals or weddings during the pandemic-spurred statewide shutdown and stay-at-home order.

Gov. Tom Wolf has not yet specified a possible timetable for relaxing the restrictions.
