A woman was taken into custody and transported to a mental health facility following an incident with Pittsburgh police Tuesday night.

Public Information Officer Chris Togneri said Zone 5 police officers attempted to serve a mental health warrant on a woman at a residence along the 100 block of Roup Avenue in the city’s Friendship neighborhood.

“The woman has a history of barricading,” Togneri said. “She refused to allow officers inside. During communications with police, she acted erratically, repeatedly stood dangerously close to a second floor window and at times leaned out of the window.”

SWAT was called around 5:30 p.m. and was able to gain entry and secure the woman around 6:30, Togneri said.

They transported her to UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital. No injuries were reported.
