URA offering financial assistance for Pittsburgh residents facing coronavirus hardships

The Pittsburgh Urban Redevelopment Authority board of directors Thursday approved funding to help income-eligible residents experiencing financial hardship because of the coronavirus pandemic pay rents, mortgages and utilities.
Residents earning up to 80% of area mean income - $63,900 for a family of four – can call the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh at 412-227-4163 to be screened for assistance.
The URA is offering up to $3,000 for rent, utility and mortgage payment assistance, including late fees, through its Covid-19 Housing Stabilization Fund.
To qualify city residents must:
Be employed, recently employed or self-employed and experience a reduction in hours or a layoff because an employer reduced or eliminated work hours as a public health precaution related to coronavirus. Documentation from the employer is required. Experience a financial hardship and inability to pay rent, mortgage payments or utilities.
