It’s OK to sing the blues — especially on Tuesdays.
There’s live music for eight performances called Tuesday Blues Day at Wolfie’s Pub in Downtown Pittsburgh. They happen every Tuesday of a Pittsburgh Pirates home game.
The collection of sounds is in conjunction with the goal to revive music in the city.
“Music is part of the fabric of our culture,” said musician Charlie Barath, who was performing in the initial Tuesday Blues Day show on May 7 with Jimmy Adler and John Burgh. “Life is empty without it. There are tons of talented musicians in Western Pennsylvania and this is wonderful way to showcase their music.”
The series was booked by James Street Promotions, a Pittsburgh-based social media, marketing and production company. It consists of eight blues shows that run from 5- 7:30 p.m.
“Music is so important to a city experience,” said Bob Wolfinger of MW Hospitality restaurant group, which owns five places involved, including Wolfie’s Pub, in a previous Tribune-Review story.
Wolfie’s Pub is a place that is also showcasing student bands and groups from nearby Point Park University, as well as other musical performers, Wolfinger said. Having Point Park in Downtown made the collaboration an easy decision.
