Tree of Life congregation warns of scam email

Tree of Life–Or L’Simcha leaders are warning of a scam email that seems to play on the continued wish to help the congregation scarred by violence.
The congregation posted to its Facebook and Twitter pages that a phishing email appearing to come from “Rabbi Hazzan Jeffrey Myers” has been circulating. The scam email, however, is not from the rabbi’s real email address.
The email might ask recipients to “respond for a ‘favor,’ ” according to the posts.
Fifteen months ago, Tree of Life was the scene of the country’s deadliest anti-Semitic attack. Eleven worshippers were killed on Oct. 27, 2018, at the Wilkins Avenue building that was home to three congregations.
The congregation urges anyone who receives the email not to respond or click on anything.
