Roadwork will continue next week in Allegheny County on Crosstown Boulevard and the Parkway East.

PennDOT said the right lane and shoulder of Interstate 579, also known as Crosstown Boulevard, will be closed to northbound motorists from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Monday through Friday nights while contractors remove a retaining wall. The work is part of a $29.3 million project to build a cap over the highway to create a three-acre park that will connect the Hill District and Downtown.

The Parkway East will be reduced to a single lane of traffic in both directions at various locations between the Fort Pitt Bridge and Squirrel Hill Tunnels from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Monday through Friday nights. Works crews will be installing guardrails and reflectors, repairing Jersey barriers and sealing cracks in the highway, according to PennDOT.
