Susan G.Komen Race for the Cure set for Sunday at Schenley Park

The 27th annual Susan G. Komen Pittsburgh Race for the Cure is set for Sunday at Flagstaff Hill in Schenley Park.

The 5k run will start at 8:35 a.m. with a 5K walk and 1-mile fun walk set to start at 8:45 a.m.

The 2019 Race Chair is breast cancer survivor and WTAE Channel 4 news anchor, Kelly Frey. Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the U.S., accounting for 30 % of newly diagnosed cancers.

Through the race alone, Komen Pittsburgh has raised over $33 million. It supports education, screening, and treatment initiatives, including the Mammogram Voucher Program which provides free Mammograms to women in need.

Registration is still open at Flagstaff Hill on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday starting at 6:30 a.m. Registration for the 5k chip-timed run closes at 8:35 a.m.
