A portion of Pittsburgh’s Waterfront Place, a street paralleling the Allegheny River between 11th and 21st streets, will close for more than two years beginning in January for a second phase of a $400 million residential development known as Riverfront Landing.
The city’s Department of Mobility and Infrastructure and The NRP Group, which is developing Riverfront Landing II, announced that Waterfront Place from 16th Street to 18th Street will close to vehicle traffic for about 30 months.
One half of the street is closing for construction. The other half will be open only for pedestrian and bicycle traffic. A complete closure of the street could be necessary at times.
NRP is planning two five-story buildings totaling 442 apartments. One building will feature 178 apartments and a six-story parking garage with 544 spaces, according to the company. The second building will house 264 apartments with a swimming pool and courtyard.
