What’s new with two of the youngest pussycats at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium?
They’re now accepting visitors.
Clouded leopard cubs Rukai and Kansas can now be seen daily in the clouded leopard playroom at The Islands, the zoo said.
They venture into the outdoor clouded leopard yard, too, but only for about an hour a day. They’re still learning to navigate the outdoor exhibit, the zoo said.
Time outside is fun for the siblings, who spend it sneaking through the grass, pouncing, hiding and jumping and swatting at each other.
“We weren’t sure what their reaction would be the first time we put them in the outside yard, but they loved it,” said Mark McDonough, primary clouded leopard keeper. “It is a completely new area filled with new sights, sounds, and smells.”
Keepers are pleased with the progress the cubs are making.
At 2-months-old, both are eating well — alternating between bottles and meat — and gaining weight.
Catch the cats outside daily at 2 p.m.
