Police seek public's help identifying suspect in fatal 4th of July shooting in Homewood
Pittsburgh police are seeking the public’s help identifying a suspect wanted for a fatal shooting in Homewood North on July 4.
Justin Gomez, 32, was shot shortly before 9:35 p.m. near the intersection of Mohler Street and Ferris Court, according to investigators.
Officers who responded to the scene found the Turtle Creek man suffering from a gunshot wound and losing consciousness.
Officers performed CPR until medics arrived and transported to him UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Oakland.
Gomez, who was in critical condition when he was taken to the hospital, was pronounced dead in the emergency room shortly before 10:30 p.m., according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s office.
The medical examiner said Gomez was shot by an unidentified assailant or assailants.
Police said they later learned that a second man arrived at a local hospital by private vehicle in stable condition with a gunshot wound to the shoulder.
He told police that he had been shot on Mohler Street.
The identity of the second gunshot victim has not been released.
Investigators have placed posters in the area where the shooting took place to encourage anyone with information about the incident to contact them.
Gomez, who worked as a roofing contractor, was married and had four children.
