A teen girl was struck by a hit-and-run driver in the drive-thru of a Burger King while Pittsburgh firefighters were extinguishing a fire at the fast food restaurant, officials said.

Officials are searching for the driver of a white or tan sedan that struck the girl, a Burger King employee, then sped away from the restaurant on Brownsville Road.

The site is near where the city’s Carrick neighborhood meets Brentwood, Pittsburgh Public Safety spokeswoman Cara Cruz said.

Shortly before 6:30 p.m., firefighters responded to a report of a fire in the Burger King’s kitchen cooking vent, Cruz said.

The girl was struck while she and other employees were waiting outside.

Medics took the injured girl to UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, where she was treated for a minor leg injury, Cruz said. The girl was not identified.

The driver has not been found. Police did not provide a description nor identify any possible suspects.

Detectives from the bureau’s Zone 3 station and fire officials are investigating.
