The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix is an event race enthusiasts and classic car lovers look forward to each summer. However, after consulting with officials and stakeholders over covid-19 concerns, Grand Prix organizers are canceling the July 17-26 race week.
“We have explored every avenue for staging our traditional races and car shows in Schenley Park along with our 10 days of race week events, but it is just not possible to proceed under current circumstances,” said PVGP Executive Director Dan DelBianco. “To provide outlets for eager car enthusiasts, we plan to create smaller events this year to raise funds for our charities.”
DelBianco said he looks forward to hosting a full slate of events next year, setting the dates as July 16-25, 2021.
“Our priority is to protect the health and safety of the fans, racers, volunteers and sponsors involved,” PVGP chairman James Dolan said. “We deeply care about this significant event and arrived at this decision after much consideration.”
Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix organizers still plan to host the Waterfront Car Cruise on July 21 and the Countryside Tour to Jamison Farm on July 23. In the coming months a series of driving tours, car shows and fundraisers are being planned.
Race organizers said the PVGP will refund all registrations and ticket purchases for canceled events, minus any processing and credit card fees.
