Pittsburgh will begin repairs in September to sidewalks and railings along Mt. Washington’s scenic Grandview Avenue.
Originally estimated at $1 million, the $800,000 project will begin on Sept. 3 and wrap up by late November, according to the Mayor’s Office.
“Grandview Avenue is a treasure to our city and our region, and we will continue to work with our partners to preserve this icon for generations to come,” Mayor Bill Peduto said in a statement.
The city closed several sections of cantilevered sidewalk along the street in June after determining that structural pillars supporting the walks were deteriorating.
City contractors will replace concrete slabs and sidewalks, perform concrete repairs and clean and paint railings along the street.
The sidewalks will be closed during construction and the Mayor’s Office warned that traffic restrictions could occur on P.J. McArdle Roadway leading to Grandview.
