Pittsburgh Public Schools has canceled a drive-in style graduation ceremony planned for Downtown this weekend because of planned protests, according to school officials.

A short statement from the district said the cancellation was at the request of law enforcement.

The district had initially planned virtual graduations that would be live-streamed on a big screen outside of PPG Paints Arena, according to the district, allowing graduating students to watch the virtual graduation together in one place.

Schools scheduled for weekend graduations are Brashear High School, Perry Traditional Acamdey, Sci-Tech Academy, Westinghouse Academy and Milliones University Prep on Saturday and Carrick High School, Obama Academy, CAPA and Allderdice High School on Sunday.

Virtual graduation ceremonies will still be streamed online. For more information visit pghschools.org/graduation.
