Pittsburgh police have found the source of an unexpected delicious delivery.

“The Cookie Angel, as we have come to call her, has identified herself,” Pittsburgh Bureau of Police posted to their Facebook page Wednesday.

The police on Tuesday posted to Facebook that “a kind woman delivered a significant amount of cookies to the front desk of Police Headquarters.”

Officers were on the phones and unable to thank her properly before she left, according to the post.

The story of the cookie whodunnit goes like this: the woman now lives out of state but was back in town for a wedding. The Cookie Angel’s mother was baking for the wedding’s cookie table and made an extra massive batch for the police, Pittsburgh police explained in their post.

The woman wanted to remain anonymous, police said.

Comments on Pittsburgh police’s Facebook post have made the gesture that much more special.

Linda Palla-Piccirillo wrote the woman “probably doesn’t want to be found. Just a love and kindness in her heart. Enjoy the cookies.”

Joanne M. Brodeur Christopher commented that “some people restore my faith in humanity. Kindness is everything.”
