Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto is ending his self-quarantine Wednesday and will begin working in his office, according to a city officials.

Peduto spokesman Tim McNulty said the mayor “feels great” and will be conducting media interviews Wednesday by phone and Skype.

Peduto, 54, of Point Breeze, has been working from home since returning from Washington, D.C., earlier this month. He was there to attend the launch of an international initiative involving Pittsburgh and five other cities and the National League of Cities’ Congressional City Conference.

He started self-quarantine after being notified that several people he had contact with in Washington tested positive for the coronavirus.

McNulty said the mayor has not developed covid-19 symptoms and is counting back 14 days to March 10, when he had contact with the infected people, as the beginning of a two-week quarantine period.

Peduto appeared at a press conference on March 13 to issue an emergency declaration for the city and an executive order limiting the size of public gatherings.
