A Pittsburgh man was sentenced Monday to 12½ years in a federal prison for distributing crack cocaine in the West End, according to prosecutors.
Tyree Davis, 35, pleaded guilty to the offense in July.
He was one of several people targeted in an investigation that focused on the GBK street gang by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration and other local police agencies, according to authorities. That wiretap investigation was centered around drug trafficking in Greenway Projects in the West End between November 2017 and June 2018.
Davis’ role in the trafficking organization was “relatively small,” according to court documents seeking a lenient sentence filed by his attorney. He had a tough upbringing and was shot during a botched robbery. More recently, he had become a reliable employee as a housekeeper at a Greentree hotel, according to his attorney.
Prosecutors said in a sentencing memorandum that Davis has previous drug convictions and “has been in the business of selling drugs for nearly his entire adult life.”
