A Pittsburgh firefighter suffered minor injuries battling a two-alarm fire at an abandoned Homewood row house early Saturday morning, a public safety official said.
The blaze was reported shortly before 2 a.m. in the 7300 block of Kelly Street.
Public safety spokesman Maurice Matthews said firefighters responded to a 911 call for a structure fire at a six-unit row house, and saw flames as soon as they arrived.
Police officers closed Kelly Street between Sterrett and Collier streets while firefighters doused the blaze, which caused “significant damage” to the abandoned homes, Matthews said.
One firefighter was treated by medics for minor smoke inhalation, Matthews said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
