The Pittsburgh Department of Licenses and Inspections has issued more than 1,200 construction permits for projects totaling $153 million during the coronavirus pandemic, according to the Mayor’s Office.

PLI personnel working from home issued 614 permits in March, 428 in April and 187 so far this month, the Mayor’s Office reported. The estimated construction costs totaled $59.8 million for March permits, $74.6 million for those issued in April and $18.6 million for May.

“I can’t say enough about the persistence of PLI workers, whose service during these troubled times is allowing us to hit the ground running with the resumption of construction in the city,” Mayor Bill Peduto said in a statement. “They are key to making sure investments continue to happen across Pittsburgh.”

The city has issued updated construction guidelines for use during the pandemic.

People can apply for permits through OneStopPGH. New construction guidelines for use during the pandemic can be found here.
