Mayor Bill Peduto on Wednesday promoted the assistant director of the Permits, Licenses and Inspections department to acting director.

Sarah Kinter, 31, will replace Director Maura Kennedy, who is leaving for a job as an economic development manager with Amazon in Washington, D.C. Kennedy’s last day is Friday. Kinter begins her new duties on Saturday.

“Maura took on one of the hardest jobs in city government and outperformed all our expectations,” Mayor Bill Peduto said in a statement. “On behalf of the residents and businesses of Pittsburgh, I want to thank her for her service.”

Kinter, who lives Downtown, is a graduate of Wilkes University and the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public and International Affairs.

She previously served as deputy director and as commission representative for Pittsburgh’s Human Relations Commission.

The PLI director’s current salary is $108,135, according to the city’s operating budget.
