Youngsters took to the ice with Penguins’ captain Sidney Crosby as he helped instruct them Wednesday during the “Little Penguins Learn to Play Hockey” program at UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry.

The program, in its 12th season, provides an introduction to hockey for 1,500 kids age 4-9 every year. Outfitted head-to-toe in hockey gear, all free of charge, the program has introduced more than 13,000 children in the Pittsburgh area.

Here are photos and video from the training on Wednesday.
