Two residents in a Kane Community Living Center have tested positive for the coronavirus, Allegheny County officials said Friday.

Both residents live in the Glen Hazel facility, where an employee tested positive for covid-19 earlier this week.

Dennis Biondo, executive director of Kane, said in a statement the residents were tested because of “unexplained fevers.”

Patients with rooms nearby the patients will be tested, he said, and employees who work in that unit will also be screened, including inquiries into sick relatives. Staff members will also be monitored for coughs and sore throats. Each resident will be checked for a fever at each staff shift change.

Biondo said the positive residents are in isolation at the center. Kane also has locations in Ross, Scott and McKeesport.

Visitors have been barred from all Kane facilities since March 13, and all group activities have been canceled, as has group dining.
