Allegheny County health inspectors found mouse droppings on croutons and dead mice on the floor after a complaint prompted them to inspect the Restaurant at Grand View Golf Club, records show.
The inspection, done Monday, turned up multiple other violations, including a walk-in cooler with temperatures too high to safely store food, according to the report. The same violation was noted during a routine inspection in late June. The issue was corrected before a re-inspection four days later.
Inspectors said they found a bag of hot dog buns chewed through, mouse droppings on croutons and other food shelves, and three dead mice on sticky traps in a food storage area.
The report called the mice a repeat violation, and records from 2018 showed an inspection found a live mouse stuck to a sticky trap in the same food storage area. The restaurant passed a re-inspection weeks later.
The latest inspection also noted a lack of food-protection manager on duty and a broken door on the walk-in cooler.
A restaurant manager could not immediately be reached for comment.
