Traffic along the Homestead Grays Bridge will be down to one lane in each direction from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday as work continues on a $2.5 million project, according to a news release from the Allegheny County Department of Public Works.

Police will be directing traffic from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The day-time lane closures are required so the construction project can finish by Friday, the release said. Most of the work has occurred at night.

The project began on March 25 and included repairs, milling, paving and painting new lines and traffic symbols on the bridge.

Additional work on a bridge expansion dam, which allows the bridge to expand and contract with the changing weather, will be needed at a later date. When that occurs, information will be provided to the public, the release said.
